Education / Post-production
Join up the final stages of the film.
Progression roleThe overview
The post-production coordinator supports the post supervisor, organising information and arrangements across the post-production schedule.
They need to understand the order and dependencies of the work. Documents, bookings and material storage connect production, editorial and post facilities. A clear status record helps people know what is ready and what still needs attention before the next stage can proceed.
Schedule updates, bookings, document management and communication across facilities form much of the day.
Your route in
Build post-production support experience and learn how the stages of a project depend on each other.
Draw the stages from footage arriving through edit, sound, colour and delivery. Mark the decisions that allow work to move forward.
Create a sample report with owners, dates, blockers and confirmed versions. Avoid marking a stage complete without a clear definition.
Seek post assistant or support work and learn how the supervisor plans bookings and manages changes.
Post support and coordination can lead towards supervision with deeper workflow and delivery experience.
Try it yourself
A fictional picture-lock date moves by a week. List the people, bookings and delivery arrangements you would ask the supervisor to review.
Check that you identify dependent tasks and distinguish a proposed revised schedule from an approved one.
